About Us

Our Goal

Our Goal in the QuASA is to provide a safe space for students of all different backgrounds to come together and find support and community within eachother and with the executive board members. This year we aim to do that by involving more cultural assemblies and majors than ever before and allowing students to find a way to integrate their queer identities in all their other interests.

The Queer & Ally Student Assembly (QuASA) is one of the cultural assemblies that make up Program Board. As a branch of the Undergraduate Student Government, Program Board provides student-run programming for the entire campus community.

QuASA is the umbrella organization for several different queer student groups. Traditional QuASA events include: Welcome Back Events, Coming Out Month (fall semester), The Drag Show (fall semester), Gender Justice Month (fall semester), Pridefest (spring semester), Second Chance Prom and many more.

QuASA's History

They say that a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Well, the QuASA has had several names before being what it is today. From 1970 when The Gay Liberation Front was struggling for acceptance as a Student Organization. To 1985 when the Gay and Lesbian Student Union was first made a part of Program Board. All the way up until 2010 when the GLBTA finally became the Queer and Ally Student Assembly it is today. The QuASA has strived for excellence in community buildng and advocacy.
